The Yoga Shala offers monthly workshops designed to help students deepen their understanding and experience of Ashtanga Yoga. Each workshop provides an opportunity to explore key elements of the practice, refine techniques, and expand your knowledge in a supportive, hands-on environment. The Yoga Shala's Ashtanga focused workshops are led by Krista Shirley, a Level II Authorized Ashtanga Yoga Instructor and owner of The Yoga Shala. Whether you're new to Ashtanga or an experienced practitioner, our monthly workshops offer personalized guidance to enhance your practice and foster growth on and off the mat.

Mysore Mysore Style Ashtanga Yoga class offers a unique and personalized approach to your practice. In this class, Krista will provide one-on-one guidance and adjustments as you move through the Ashtanga series at your own pace.
Whether you're a beginner learning the sequence or an advanced practitioner deepening your practice, Mysore style allows you to grow and evolve at your own level. The individualized instruction ensures that you receive the support you need, while the communal energy of the class inspires and motivates. Build strength, flexibility, and focus in this traditional method of practice, where consistency is key and progress unfolds naturally. Primary Series: Anatomy + Alignment Lab A deeper anatomical breakdown of key postures in the Primary Series—ideal for both students and teachers who want to refine their understanding of internal alignment, joint safety, and muscle activation. We’ll dissect foundational poses and highlight the functional movement patterns that make practice sustainable, intelligent, and individualized. Expect a mix of discussion, demonstration, and guided exploration to help you see familiar postures with new eyes. You’ll learn how to identify and correct common misalignments, engage the right muscle groups, and support long-term joint health. Come ready to workshop, ask questions, and move smarter—with tools you can immediately apply to your own practice or teaching.

Pranayama for Energy & Emotional Regulation Through accessible and intentional breath techniques, Krista guides students in the ancient practice of pranayama—using the breath as a tool to calm the nervous system, awaken inner energy, and cultivate mental clarity. You’ll explore how different breath ratios affect the body and mind, learning when to apply calming, balancing, or energizing techniques depending on your specific needs.
Whether you're seeking to reduce anxiety, improve focus, or deepen your yoga practice, this session will teach you how to seamlessly integrate pranayama into both your daily life and movement routines. Krista will break down the mechanics of breath control in a simple, embodied way, helping you build confidence and rhythm in your personal breathwork practice. The session concludes with a guided, breath-led meditation—inviting you to experience the stillness, spaciousness, and presence that conscious breathing can unlock. |
