Self-study, self-practice and self-mastery are just as applicable to nutrition as to learning yoga postures. Krista works with nutrition clients in a holistic fashion, using food education, herbalism and habit shifts, to help clients learn, practice and eventually master their relationship with food.
Comprehensive ApproachKrista will educate and help you to better understand the body and food, and how they work together to maintain balance or regain balance; or, if used improperly, how they destroy each other. Fad diets, chemical-laden pills, and the like do not work with your body. They work against it, lowering the body’s metabolism, destroying homeostasis, spiking cortisol levels and wreaking more havoc. Krista guides her clients to gain a healthier relationship with food, by arming them with knowledge about how the body works and what it needs. She will assist you in crafting, applying, integrating, assessing, fine tuning, and mastering the skills of whole living, using whole food nutrition.

During your initial consultation, Krista will ask questions about your diet, lifestyle, sleep habits, stress level, medications you take and more. These aim to frame your current relationship with nutrition, as well as the goals you seek to attain. Krista doesn’t just want to give you a plan to take you from where you are, to where you want to be. She seeks to educate you to understand the rationale behind her suggestions, and the correct nutrition for your body and lifestyle. You, in turn, are empowered to apply this knowledge in your daily life, integrating changes slowly so you see and feel the benefits.
You’ll continue to study health and nutrition, to steadily move from where you are now to your target, your desired place, and do so in a way that is not only enjoyable, but inspiring, enriching and deeply motivating. The benefits will spill into all areas of your life. Just as with all the other services Krista offers, Nutrition Education is really about learning the skill of self-practice. She will teach you this specific skill, guide you in your self-studies on the topic, and assist in your application and integration of the information. Concurrently, she’ll help you stay accountable to the goals you’ve set for yourself, assess your progress as often as you desire, and assist in fine tuning, applying and integrating the information you acquire. |
Enrollment and Tuition:
Whole Food Nutrition consultations can be done remotely or in person at The Yoga Shala. The initial session will be a 60 minute assessment to discuss your short- and long-term nutrition and health goals, needs, roadblocks and concerns. This information is critical to provide Krista a full picture of your life and lifestyle, and what will work for your body type (and what won’t). She’ll use this information to create a plan for you to begin integrating into your life. Once your personal plan is created, you'll meet a second time with Krista to discuss your plan and how to begin implementing it into your daily life.
